During your first fitting, you’ll put on your wedding dress. Remember, your dress was ordered according to the largest measurement (between hips, bust, and waist); therefore, it will likely NOT fit properly right away. At the first appointment, we’ll pin the dress in all the right places so our seamstresses can start customizing your dress to your body!
This appointment will take about an hour. Keep in mind that’s about an hour of standing in your dress and shoes while it’s being pinned by a seamstress. So please be prepared. Many brides insist on coming to their fitting on an empty stomach — we DO NOT advise this.
Be patient with the process. We find that brides tend to overthink between the first and second fitting. The alterations staff is sort of like having your own Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother. But unfortunately, alterations take a little longer than the point of a magic wand. 4 weeks after your first fitting, you’ll come back to The Bridal Nook for your 2nd fitting. Your dress will have been adjusted according to the first fitting, and additional alterations will be made.

Meet Jocelyn
Born and raised in Long Island, NY, Jocelyn discovered her passion for sewing at a young age. After joining the United States Coast Guard in 2009 and serving her country for seven years, she pursued her lifelong dream of creating and designing professionally by attending the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
In 2020, Jocelyn and her fiancé relocated to Tennessee to be closer to family, and she quickly became known for her exceptional craftsmanship. Her work has included designing costumes for NCAA Division I football mascots, creating intricate pieces for Dollywood’s renowned dinner theaters, and contributing to TransWorld’s Halloween & Attraction shows.
As the proud owner of The Bridal Nook, Jocelyn combines her extensive experience, artistic vision, and passion for helping brides feel confident and beautiful. She is dedicated to providing an exceptional, stress-free bridal experience, ensuring every gown fits flawlessly and every bride leaves with a smile.
